Xi Jinping participates in virtual meeting of Brics leaders hosted by Brazil

Chinese President Xi Jinping, upon invitation from Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, will participate today in the Brics leaders’ meeting via video conference, as announced by the Chinese Foreign Ministry. According to initial reports, the meeting will focus on discussions regarding US trade policies and the importance of upholding multilateralism in international relations. Despite the participation of the leaders of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, it has been mentioned that there will be no final joint statement issued following the virtual meeting.
